OUR STORY

Different journeys.
A place to belong.

The Spectrum Connections began with one family who felt lost, and a few friends who made all the difference.

How it began

My child’s autism journey began when we were still new to this country. The systems, the appointments, even the words people used were all unfamiliar. There was so much information and so many people to reach out to, yet I often felt lost, confused, and completely alone.

Then a few friends stepped in. They listened, shared what they knew, and reminded me that I didn’t have to carry it all by myself. That small circle of kindness changed everything.

The Spectrum Connections is my way of passing it on, so that no parent, no family, and no autistic person has to walk this path feeling alone.

This is a place for autistic people, parents and caregivers, and everyone who loves and supports them. Here you can ask the question you’ve been carrying alone, find people who live a life like yours, and take one small, practical step at a time. No real names, no judgement, and no need to have it all figured out.

Embracing Differences. Building Support.

There’s no single way to be autistic, and no one right way to raise an autistic child. We make room for every journey: the newly worried and the long experienced, parents and autistic adults, and families from every culture and faith.

Rooted in Ontario, open to everyone.

We started here, so our guidance follows Ontario’s systems: the Ontario Autism Program, schools, health care and the help available to families. Our circles welcome families from anywhere in the world, including those who are planning a move to Canada.

“You don’t have to figure everything out alone.”

Built around people.

Warmth. Privacy. Practical support. These are the things we want to get right as the community grows.

We’re inviting a small group of parents and autistic adults to try the community first, share honest feedback, and help it feel warm and lived-in from day one. A few minutes a week is enough.
